Members of Ukrainian feminist group Femen staged protests across Europe as they called for a “topless jihad.” The demonstrations were in support of a young Tunisian activist named Amina Tyler. Last month, Tyler posted naked images of herself online, with the words “I own my body; it’s not the source of anyone’s honor” written on her bare chest. The head of Tunisia’s “Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice,” reportedly called for Tyler to be stoned to death for her putatively obscene actions, lest they lead to an epidemic. Tyler has since gone quiet, leading some to fear for her safety.
▲ I was real thrilled to catch up with some of my great and wonderful friends in NYC the other weekend. I usually hate that city, but this time is was wonderful.

▲ Niagara / Niagara Falls, NY
These are images I found as family passed away. As we began to clean out all of the closets, attics and houses I began collecting the boxes upon boxes of old family images. Most of the negatives are in envelopes covered with information about the images. (These images are not from the above envelopes.)
It has taken me a while, but now I am making time to go through them all. It has been pretty great to go through all of these, as some of the images are incredible. I can’t wait till Niagara comes to form and we can begin to put years, names, relationships and places to the images.

▲ Drive In Movie / New York / January 2013
Drive in movie theaters are my favorite. These days they only make up about 1% of T.V. screens in the United States, which is a total bummer. They used to make up 25% but with new inventions, day light savings and other craziness, their existence has considerable declined. I’ve always dreamed of renting a drive in theater to present a photography project I am working on. Now I am dedicating myself to that goal.
It would so amazing to drive around the country, and instead of using museums or galleries or whatever other option, I would use drive in movie theater to project a project. It could be like Now & Then. It might not be as personal, but we could work that out….
If anyone knows anything about this, please let me know where I should be looking :) I bet there is a ton of logistical red tape, like analogue vs digital, but whatever, it will happen.
